We had the pleasure of hosting a shoot with Laura Philippa photographed by Olivia Rohde. Laura recently embarked on one of the most important journeys of her life.
I have spent many years hating my body and blaming it for how it looked. I believed I had to change it somehow. Some would say that I had no reason to feel this way, but that doesn’t change how I felt. I decided to make an effort to NOT fight against my body, I want to accept it and be grateful for it. I mean, it’s carrying me around every day, supporting me in every situation.
It is strong and beautiful, and so is yours.
Last fall I decided to quit my job and take time off to simply listen to myself and my needs. I went traveling and took an education in yoga, pilates, and dance. This was the most important choice of my life so far.
When I decided to meet myself where I was and started listening to my needs I came closer to acceptance. I experienced a balance between my body and my mind - they started working together as a whole instead of fighting each other. This is a lot easier said than done, it takes time and a lot of hard work. It’s a process and I am not “there” yet, but I’m closer than ever before. I’ve stopped comparing myself to others and I’m learning to be proud of my unique beautiful body.
I am so proud to be able to represent the statement that Moons and Junes stands for. The natural and pure unretouched body, just as it is, in every size and form.
